Karen has a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling), Solution Focussed Therapy.

Karen originally worked as a counsellor before specialising in relationship counselling and has been counselling couples for over 10 years. Working as a counsellor she sees both individuals and couples who are experiencing difficulties across a broad range of issues including individual as well as all aspects of the relationship.

Karen uses the Gottman Method Couples Therapy which is a structured, goal oriented and scientifically based therapy. She follows a program that would benefit any relationship. For more information about the Gottman Method click here.

Karen also utilises a strengths based solution focused counselling approach in assisting clients to facilitate change where required. As part of the process, she helps clients to really understand the contributing factors that have led to the current relationship situation, enabling other solutions such as compromise and acceptance (where appropriate) to be part of the way forward.

Having immigrated to Australia with her husband and two daughters in 2003, Karen has a special interest in couples and families who have also relocated, as she understands the challenges, loss and strain on the relationship that can be associated with such a seemingly positive relocation.

Prior to Northern Beaches Relationship Counselling Karen has been involved in counselling a wide range of issues from loneliness and depression, to relationship issues and mental health. She is interested in stress and its reaction on normally well functioning individuals.

Karen works in a way that enables clients to feel truly valued, forming a therapeutic alliance in the pursuit of happiness. “There is nothing more seductive than being truly listened to.” As a result, Karen continues to get great feedback from individuals and couples as she helps them rebuild great relationships, enjoying life together as a couple or family once again.

Karen, working as a marriage counsellor and relationship counsellor, currently has a wide client base and sees couples from suburbs across Sydney’s Northern Beaches including Warriewood, Mona Vale, Narrabeen, Collaroy, Cromer, Wheeler Heights, Dee Why, Elanora Heights, Belrose, Newport, Bilgola, Bayview and clients from the upper north shore.
